A Mother’s Touch is Eternal: The Eberhart Story

When Rich Eberhart Jr. decided to get into the custom embroidery business over 20 years ago, he had no idea where the journey would take him. From the start, he was encouraged by his family and friends to pursue his dream. But as all dreams begin, they sometimes never get out of the alpha stage.

His idea to enter the very competitive custom embroidery industry was derived out of a need to supply the Philadelphia Police force with a branded look in wearable’s. Rich, who was a police officer and served in the Philadelphia region, specifically in the housing communities, approached his parents, Richard Sr. and Carol, with the business plan, and as they say, the rest is history.

With his support network in place, the business started out of the basement of his parent’s home. His mother, Carol, was a talented seamstress and took special pride in producing these custom products. Her meticulous technique added that extra touch that only a mother can provide.

With the help of his parents and referrals from his friends, the business developed beyond his expectations. As each order was placed, Rich had one simple concept in mind-----  earn each customer’s business with each job delivered and take nothing for granted.

Today, the business has grown out of the home and is now located in a corporate park in the suburbs of Philadelphia and employs over 10 associates with expertise in the embroidery field.

The facility is equipped with the latest up-to-date machinery to ensure impeccable quality to meet the high standards that their customers demand. Rich remembers how his mom would take extra time to make sure the product was right before it was delivered to the customer. As a result, Eberhart’s commitment to quality has never been compromised.

Being a family owned and operated business, everyone involved in the production process works diligently with each customer to make certain that the product will exceed their expectations in value. Since the Eberhart’s name and reputation is passed along with each order, there is a  special awareness in delivering the finest, finished product at an affordable price.

The production process also includes a quality control feature whereby each client receives a proof of the item to verify the work order and review any changes that may have occurred during the process. Once approved and manufactured, each item is personally inspected for accuracy before leaving the plant for delivery. Rich’s mom has passed but as you can see, her presence is still in the building, influencing all those that our involved in doing their very best to satisfy the customer.

From the order to delivery, it is the dedication of the people that work at Eberhart’s to maintain this work ethic that was established 20 years ago.

In the beginning, Rich’s parents also insisted that they incorporate the most basic golden rule of life into their business practice; be respectful and  treat each person as you would want to be treated. Rich would also carry this belief as a police officer working with the families in the communities that he served. At Eberhart’s, this philosophy has been instilled in every step taken to complete the task at hand. As such, Rich and his associates have been blessed by repeat business from their customer base and are truly thankful that the many have appreciated their efforts. When they see that their products bring a smile to their customer’s face and they pass it on to their friends…….  that becomes the true measure of their success.

And there is no doubt that, somewhere, Rich’s mom is also smiling as well.
